This is a patient testimonial. The patient poured their story out to us in a long written testimonial and we thought it would help anyone else who may find themselves in the same situation.
We all know how crazy of a year 2020 has been for all of us. I wasn’t about to let what’s happening in the world discourage me or reflect negatively on me. I was determined to make something positive for myself and my family. I’ve always been a person who has given to others and put others before myself. It’s not a bad thing, but I’ve realized over time and from experiences, I need to take care of myself. Not only for my own wellbeing but of those around me. Self-health is so important, and I can attest we all need this in some shape or form.
I told myself earlier in the year, I’d start my focus after tax season. But as you all know; I was not going to let the extended tax season delay my start! So, I began my journey on April 22, 2020. I met with Dr. Pam Stucky LaGuardia from Stucky Chiropractic for my first weigh-in. I knew it was definitely time when I stepped on the scale, weighing in at 199! So close to the 200 mark which I knew I so desperately didn’t want to pass.
I started on the IP (Ideal Protein) plan. The plan compromised of having an IP for breakfast (I chose a delicious shake mixed with expresso), IP for lunch along with 2 cups of veggies, followed by an IP snack in the afternoon. In the evening for supper, I’d make my 6oz of protein and 2 cups on veggies. At first, it was a huge adjustment, being on a certain schedule, and limiting my food intake. I also increased my water intake and along with the new program, I learned I would be giving up carbs and sugar! Oh man…what would this mean? I’ve always read about people giving them up and how great they felt afterwards, but I was always skeptical. I was about to find out.
The next few days came, and I’m not going to lie, I was so sick. I had no energy, I felt like I was going to be sick, and I had a major headache. This is what has been coined the “Keto Flu”, it’s real! It was my body adjusting or as I say I was literally going through withdrawals from carbs and sugar. I stuck through it and it only lasted a couple of days…it was well worth it. I can attest to that now; I feel great without this crap in my body anymore!
The weight just started coming off, I remember my first week, I lost 6 pounds! Every week as I continued to lose more, it was the motivation for me to not give up and follow the program. It was working, and I was feeling amazing.
By July 15th I was down 35 pounds to 164, and shortly before this, Dr. Pam advised me she was introducing a new program called Activate Metabolics.
I was actually excited to hear about the program because, at this point in my weight loss journey, I was ready to transition into all whole foods. I was ready to make the permanent lifestyle adjustment. Ideal Protein definitely works, but I wanted more. I wanted to choose healthy every day, and learn to listen to my body and figure out what I needed to do to make this a long-term change.
Activate Metabolics is really tailored to my body and through the DNA testing, I found out exactly what I needed to eat for my body and how I should be exercising. Who would have thought I needed to eat 65% of my daily caloric intake in healthy fats! My results also confirmed I needed the cardio workouts and not as much strength training…go figure! I’ve never been one for cardio…but my body wants it. It’s really been an eye-opening experience for me.
In addition to the IP and Activate Metabolics programs, I started working out when I was about 170 lbs. What a difference this has made for me too! From someone who didn’t really care to work out, I now hate missing a day! It also helps I found a great place to work out at. I started at F45 East Eau Claire. They offer amazing workouts and their owners and staff are amazing!
My journey has really just begun, and I’m committed to making this a lifestyle permanent change for myself. I’ve lost 50 pounds to date and went from a size 14 to size 8…all in 5 fast months.
I definitely could not have done this without the great support system I have! My family encouraged and supported me through this journey, I’m so thankful for my amazing husband and kids. They have truly been there for me and helped me get where I am today.
A special thanks to Dr. Pam! She’s helped me so much along this journey and I’m grateful for the services she provides. Also, a special thanks to the Crew at F45 East Eau Claire…your encouragement and support I truly appreciate. I hope my story is an encouragement to others, being healthy is definitely a lifestyle change, and it’s well worth the adjustment. Invest in yourself!
