Graston Technique for Chronic Pain Problems and Traumatic Injury

Dr. Chris Edwards, DC
Do you have chronic pain in an area that you previously injured? Or have you had a slow onset of muscle tightness and pain in an area that you use a lot like elbow? Graston technique may be able to help.
Graston is an instrument assisted technique that helps free up restricted muscles due to overuse, repetitive use over years, or a traumatic injury that healed improperly. The technique is performed by a doctor using instruments specifically designed to break up scar tissue and tissue adhesions (under the skin) in the specified area. Coupled with rehabilitative exercises given for the patient to do at home the process helps rebuild muscles in the area so they function like they are supposed to.
Conditions commonly treated:
- Lumbar/Cervical sprain/strain
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (wrist)
- Tennis elbow
- Rotator Cuff Tendinosis (Shoulder)
- Achilles Tendinosis (ankle pain)
- Scar tissue
- Shin Splints
- Plantar Fascitis
- Golfer’s Elbow
- Knee Pain
- Trigger Finger
Over 80% of patients who receive Graston treatment feel relief of their symptoms in the problem area in 4-6 six treatments but many in as little as two. Each Graston treatment takes about 15 minutes with the treating doctor and is done two times a week depending on the patient.
