Dr. Stucky

After nearly 52 years in chiropractic, the Stucky Chiropractic team is excited to announce the June 2009 retirement of the center’s founder, Dr. L. Joe Stucky!
Dr. Stucky was born in Pine Island, Minnesota, attended Pine Island High School and was valedictorian of his high school class. He and his brother Max attended Northwestern Chiropractic College in St. Paul, Minnesota. They graduated valedictorian and salutatorian of their chiropractic class in 1957. Dr. Stucky went to Thomasville, Georgia after graduation to pracitce with his brother, Bill. In 1959, he moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and founded Stucky Chiropractic Center. He married Kay Mickelson (Hillestad) in 1961. They have three children, Linda, Steve and Pam, all of whom are chiropractors.
Dr. Stucky truly enjoys his practice and loves his patients. He has enjoyed traveling throughout the years. When he is not traveling or taking care of patients, he is on the golf course or spending tme with his grandchildren. He currently works two half-days during the week and celebrated 50 years as a chiropractor on September 27, 2007.
Some of Dr. Stucky's achievements include:
- Being internationally recognized as a chiropractic lecturer, teacher, motivator, and philosopher.
- Developing the "Stucky Integrated Technique."
- Being a Distinguished Fellow of the International Chiropractic Association.
- Receiving the IJ Tulerberg Award for outstanding professional achievement and student recruitment in Wisconsin.
- Founding Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Georgia. It is now Life University.
- Being an extension faculty member at Life University, Life Chiropractic West, and Cleveland College of Chiropractic.
- Attracting chiropractors to his practice from the U.S., Japan, and Canada.
- Motivating the 16 other chiropractors in his immediate family, including his 3 children, their spouses and 1 granddaughter
