The Coach’s Story

Hi! My name is Jessica DeGrasse. I am the nutritional wellness coach here at Stucky Chiropractic Center. This Corner of the Newsletter is going to be a place where our readers can learn more about Lifestyle Wellness at Stucky Chiropractic Center.

Seven years have flown by and it seems like just yesterday. That is when Stucky Chiropractic began the journey of a structured lifestyle wellness program in our office and when I started my personal journey of figuring out my own healthy life!

At 215 pounds, I knew I was in no way healthy or happy in my skin. I wanted to be a healthy person, a healthy mom and a healthy wife one day. Most importantly, I did not want to be a part of the statistics. I knew I had to fight to get out of my bad habits and mindset. The Stucky program has been such a great tool in helping me get my healthy mindset back.

Ultimately, I have learned how to eat well. The program has taught me how to always have a plan. If things aren’t going as well as I want, or I am not feeling as good as I have, then I know to ask “what’s my plan?”

My journey has not been easy. There were many difficult decisions to make daily; sometimes even meal to meal. Some days, even some weeks, were really hard and I wanted to just eat the convenient foods and sit on the couch. It took some time for me to realize that I had a whole village of support to bring me out of that sabotaging mindset and to help me figure out better habits to replace the bad ones.

One of the first things that appealed to me about being part of this Lifestyle Wellness program was the support I received at Stucky Chiropractic. Secondly, was the opportunity to pass on all the great things I had learned to others through coaching them on their journey. I have learned to surround myself with people who have health goals similar to my own and those who have been more successful than I have been, so that I never stop learning and growing on this journey. I find the moments when I get complacent are those times I want to go back to my old habits.

As the months unfold, I am always reminded of how easily I could go back to my old self. But that pull to go back will not define me it will only remind me. I love being a part of people’s journey and helping them understand their own bodies. It is exciting to guide them in ways that work best for them and to see them start to feel their best next week, next month, next year!
